Information Technology Support Specialist
The IT Technology Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting the technology and infrastructure within the school building. This role involves ensuring the proper functioning of computers, networking equipment, audiovisual systems, and other technology resources used by students, teachers, and staff. The technician will diagnose and resolve technical issues, provide technical support to users, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the educational environment through effective technology management.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support to students, teachers, and staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues within the school building.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely manner to minimize disruptions to the teaching and learning process.
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system optimizations, to ensure the reliability and security of all technology resources.
- Audiovisual Systems: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment such as projectors, interactive whiteboards, tv’s and sound systems used in classrooms and event spaces.
- Inventory Management: Keep accurate records of hardware and other technology assets.
- User Training: Assist teachers and staff with technology training, digital tools, and best practices for technology integration in the classroom.
- Security: Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard sensitive data, devices, and network infrastructure against cyber threats.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for reference and future improvements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the IT team, school administration, and district technology personnel to align technology initiatives with educational goals.
- Workplace: Maintain and ensure the workplace and ensure hub rooms are always clean.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry computer equipment and peripherals.
Able to stand, bend, and kneel to set up and maintain equipment. Ability to climb ladders.
Must be able to navigate through the school building and travel between schools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Windows, MacOS, or Chrome operating systems. Experience with Google or Microsoft Office Suite, and other software platforms.
- Familiarity with computer hardware components and peripherals.
- Basic understanding of networks and wireless technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to adapt to changing technology trends and willingness to learn new skills.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection is a plus.
