SUMMARY: Management Business Solutions is seeking an Legal Assistant for its client in New Orleans. LA. This full-time position involves supporting a group of attorneys by performing complex secretarial, administrative, and substantive legal duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leverage technology resources to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the attorneys.
· Transcribe, format, input, edit, retrieve, copy, print, and transmit text, data, and graphics using office software applications.
· Understand legal processes to ensure the accurate preparation of client documents and adherence to filing or closing deadlines.
· Prepare and coordinate e-filings, and state court filings as needed. Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and scan documents.
· Ensure documents are saved and filed in the appropriate workspaces/folders in FileSite and physical files.
· Maintain the daily calendar of each attorney, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
· Maintain Outlook contacts for each attorney as needed.
· Open and close files and assist with conflict checks.
· Assist attorneys with timesheets and regular billing matters.
· Maintain a good working rapport with clients, exercising discretion and judgment.
· Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalency required; an Associate’s Degree, Business School certificate, or related education is desirable. Significant prior experience may be substituted for a combination of educational requirements.
· 3 years of litigation secretarial experience in a law firm environment preferred.
· Strong knowledge of and ability to apply office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PDF.
· Working knowledge of legal practices, terminology, documents, and court procedures.
