Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and apply a high level of knowledge and understanding of MDK policies, procedures, and culture. Work with the team to ensure that they understand our culture and have the tools necessary to be a successful contributor and supporter of MDK’s mission and values, including MDK initiatives.
  • Lead staff performing a wide range of legal support responsibilities for our Indiana jurisdictions. Coordinate staffing and schedules for the team. Monitor and approve time off requests and schedule changes, as well as process timecards for team.
  • Partner with attorney(s) to create and maintain an inspiring and collaborative work environment. Making sure employees are motivated to perform at their highest level and ensuring the team delivers quality legal services.
  • Focuses on the people within the team, and how they can be utilized in our agile model to help the team move forward. Help address issues and improve how the team works together. Addressing and resolving challenging situations in a timely manner, working with Human Resources as needed.
  • Work closely with attorney(s) to provide direction and input to team members on their performance. Monitor quality of work and ensure continuous compliance with MDK’s vision and expectations.
  • Establish an on-going education plan to keep skills current, to help other pod members achieve their professional goals and develop transferable skills. Continue to discuss individual employees' educational plan to ensure continued growth and high job satisfaction levels.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring decisions. Coordinate the training and orientation for new team members.
  • Regularly review the work of the team to ensure the quality and compliance is held to established standards. Cultivate an open communication flow, transparency, and accountability.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to ensure efficiency standards are met. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational agility.
  • Manage relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and courts. Work with attorney(s) to resolve conflicts, always striving to ensure total client satisfaction.
  • Facilitate the interaction of the team with other teams in the firm. Actively seek to ensure open communication and teamwork.
  • Ensure team follows MDK guidelines and expectations related to providing legal services to clients and performing work in the uniform method as provided across pods.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in legal support environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role. Experience in an agile environment preferred, but not required.
  • Hybrid position – you must be located near one of our offices. We have offices in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Orlando. Requires traveling to the Columbus office 2-3 times per month.

Schedule & Benefits:
