What are the responsibilities and job description for the Out-Patient Psychiatric RN position at Many Rivers Whole Health?
Position Overview:
Job Duties:
- Provides direct client care under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, evaluates outcomes and consults with other health team members as required.
- Triage walk-ins and new intakes by collecting vital signs and past/current medications, document appropriately and report results to the RN, APRN, or MD on staff as needed.
- Take and record vital signs as needed with regularly scheduled clients.
- Notify appropriate licensed personnel when a client has complaints.
- Performs all aspects of client care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Fax/mail physician progress notes/medication lists to the PCP as instructed by the nursing supervisor.
- Import lab results into the appropriate EMR as received, notifying the provider/nursing of abnormal results.
- Maintain patient assistance programs.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to co-workers, physicians, and clients.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all staff members in the office.
- Accurately complete personal daily time sheets and clinical documentation and submit to the nursing supervisor in accordance with program policy.
- Treat clients and their families with respect and dignity. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of clients and family.
- Interact professionally with clients and family and involve client and family in patient education.
- Triage and return medical/nursing phone calls.
- Answer telephone calls in a professional manner, direct calls appropriately, and refer client programs to appropriate nurse or physician.
- Input and maintain current client medication lists in the EMR.
- Meet current documentation standards and policies.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for clients and families in accordance with office standards.
- Maintain established office policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Coordinate with drug reps for luncheons, and maintaining sample medication stock as requested.
- Ensure adequate stock of supplies. Assist in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Report medication changes to treatment team in accordance with program policy.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings unless excused by Nursing Supervisor.
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Performed preventative maintenance.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and functions in stressful situations.
- Response to patients is appropriate in emergency or physically stressful situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the licensed practical nurse’s scope of practice.
- Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate and to handle constantly changing situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
- Abide by the employee Code of Ethics and policies and procedures set forth by MRWH.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of RN program from an accredited school of Nursing, BSN preferred.
- Current MT Licensure/Current NLC that includes MT RN Licensure.
- Current BLS is required.
- One or more years of acute care experience preferred.
