This job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, acts as a resource for students, staff, and community leaders using the assigned building/facility by providing clean and safe learning environments, maintenance, and set-up for activities.
Judgement And Decision Making
Work is assigned by supervisor and/or self. This position requires application of technical knowledge to evaluate, analyze, repair, or replace equipment; determine cost effectiveness; prioritize repairs; assess safety issues; and determine the impact decisions have on building occupants. Work is guided by District policies; technical specifications; and federal, state, or local codes and standards. Decision making requires collaboration with supervisor, coworkers, school staff, contractors, vendors, and design consultants. Errors in decision making could lead to uncomfortable, unsafe, and unhealthy learning environments; increased energy costs; serious injury or fatality; and liability issues. Supervisor is involved only in major decisions.

- Clean building including classrooms, locker rooms, restrooms, offices, and hallways by removing trash, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, cleaning carpets, washing windows, and scrubbing floors.Complete minor maintenance work.
- Assist staff, public, students, teachers, and community groups using the building during assigned shift. Answer questions; respond to requests, and/or direct individuals to appropriate people or building areas.
- Change light bulbs and filters; clean heating/cooling vents; inspect and adjust boilers for proper pressure settings; routinely examine water/air pipes and facility roof and structure for damage and leaks; and perform minor repairs to building, furniture, equipment, includes changing ceiling tiles. Report building maintenance repairs to immediate supervisor and/or appropriate maintenance department.
- Assure building security by locking/unlocking doors at appropriate times, recognizing and correcting unsafe security conditions, or reporting condition to appropriate personnel or authorities.
- Set-up for school programs, meetings, assemblies, special events, and after-hours functions as requested. Move and set-up computers, public address system, audio-visual equipment, furniture, and lighting as needed.
- Assist with routine grounds duties including picking up trash; removing snow, ice, and gravel; and cleaning outside windows, doors, and lighting.
- Respond to emergencies such as fire alarms, broken pipes, electrical shorts, and fires. Assist building staff as needed during emergencies to assure student and staff safety.
- Perform seasonal, summer, and project cleaning as planned and assigned by supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Operating knowledge of basic custodial equipment preferred at hire; required within 3 months after entering position.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
