POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part of the Clean Products Value Chain Midwest Division – Heartland Region and reports to the Heartland Region Sales Manager. The position is based in Louisville, KY.
This position is part of a job family with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish responsive customer relationships within territory including a mix of small, medium, and potentially large key customers. The accounts in this territory include a mix of both branded and unbranded customers.
- Communicate critical business issues, resolve day-to-day problems, and update customers on industry issues, market conditions and MPC products, services and policies, to enhance MPC’s position as a preferred supplier.
- Travel within territory to conduct face-to-face meetings on a regular basis.
- Work closely with direct supervisor to optimize the portfolio of business by actively managing accounts, focusing on the optimal price/volume relationship for all products while executing strategic direction of the territory.
- Potential for project work including developing and executing strategies to increase market share in new and existing markets.
- Work closely with direct supervisor to develop, negotiate, implement and manage long term contracts and non-fuel offerings to optimize value contribution.
- Provide market intelligence to benefit internal business partners including information that impacts daily pricing decisions, competitive pricing trends, competitor outages, terminal problems, supply conditions, forecast adjustments and any other business-related items.
- Evaluate market dynamics and niches seeking profit opportunities with new and existing customers through pricing programs and contracts to enhance MPC's overall corporate profitability.
- Maintain a broad understanding of industry issues, government regulation, economic conditions, business outlooks, commercial and consumer needs, and MPC competitive strengths and weaknesses by market.
- Actively participate in industry associations and conferences.
- Maintain the highest level of ethical conduct, professional standards and practices within the industry.
- Maintain the highest level of work practices in meeting Health, Environment & Safety goals and requirements.
- The above responsibilities notwithstanding, the final scope of the role will be determined by the experience level of the candidate selected.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, or other business-related function is required.
- Two to five years of commercial experience is preferred, particularly in the Marketing or Supply Organizations.
- This position will experience 25-50% of daily “in-territory” travel and up to 10% of overnight travel.
