Marex has successfully established a Data Platform team. In recent years, that team has developed a Data Lakehouse architecture already relied upon by different departments across the firm. Marex now seeks to strengthen its capabilities and elevate the role of data in the operating models of Marex's businesses, directed by a strategy that aims to:

• Decentralise access for discovering and consuming data. Enable the data-savvy, entrepreneurial business leaders with the tools to interrogate data sets to explore and unlock opportunities for new or data-driven products and services.
• Provide a market-beating digital experience for clients by providing greater insight into their own data.
  
• Build communities and practice around data management. Increase awareness and raise the profile of the data-driven opportunities for the firm.
• Ensure that the capabilities and tools of the Data Platform team infuse with the goals and operating models of each and every business within the firm.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will help to shape an enterprise vision and strategy for data. They must plan to deliver demonstrative business value early in their tenure and then continue to evolve the strategy and the operating model iteratively over time.

The successful candidate will perform the following roles and responsibilities:

• Understand the different business domains and their data requirements and opportunities.
• Identify stakeholders' most critical outcomes, explore the value opportunities, and agree on success metrics.
• Work with the Senior Database Architect and the Data Platform team to align the objectives of business stakeholders with the capabilities of the Data Platform architecture.
• Establish “good-enough” data governance practices.
• Disseminate awareness of best practices for both producers and consumers of data. Define adequate tooling in the Data Platform to support those users.
• Work with Senior Database Architect to manage talent required to continue development of the Data Platform.
• Assess suitable technologies that will extend the Data Platform for specific business use-cases.
• Identify talent gaps and methods for growing and acquiring talent in the Data Platform team.
• Develop data training programmes to embed required skills into the business.

Skills and Experience:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following experience:

• Strong data modelling skills, both relational and non-relational
• Database architecture and data warehousing experience.
• Experience implementing data governance practices and tools.
• Experience with Python or R and SQL.
• Experience using analytical datastores and tools, preferably with the Azure data eco-system such as Synapse and Azure DataBricks
• Understanding of both batch and stream processing
• Good command of data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
