Margolis Company

Located in Roseville, Minnesota Margolis Company offers highly technical commercial landscaping services to the
Greater Twin Cities Metropolitan Area along with infrequent work in other major Minnesota cities. Margolis Company has been in operation for over 80 years. Major projects over the years span from universities, sports facilities, corporate campuses, apartments, industrial campuses, shopping centers and much more.

Landscape Estimator

The Estimator responsible for completing estimates and proposals by quantifying materials needed, understanding tools and labor required to complete install, and coordinating involvement of appropriate subcontractors to involve to generate comprehensive customer proposals.

REPORTS TO

  • Director of Business Development

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete estimates and proposals for future projects
  • Ability to perform take offs and quantify material needs
  • Capable of reading and understanding project blue prints related to landscape, grading and architectural plans
  • Coordinate and analyze subcontractor & vendor quotes for estimate completion
  • Understand contractual requirements as they relate to labor, subcontractors, and other utilization requirements
  • Attain Project Manager approval prior to formal proposal to clients
  • Hand deliver bids and/or attend bid opening meetings on an as needed basis
  • Perform formal comprehensive pre-project meetings to review estimates, plans and specs with Project

Manager

  • Complete estimating tasks related to change orders, alternates, construction extras, etc. as requested by

Project Managers post project award

  • Conduct post install analysis of projects for assessment of estimated vs actual for future reference for estimating
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure all is properly saved on the company server & estimating program.
  • Proactively identify potential “problem areas” early in the process and develop strategies to overcome
  • Use Microsoft programs, LMN along with other programs to complete responsibilities
  • Notify Leadership of any situation/event that may affect the operation of the Company
  • Comply with all company policies as well as in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
  • Communicate with customers and fellow employees in a polite and courteous manner
  • Other tasks as applies

  • Flexible working hours including overtime and occasional weekend work
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/structural drawings and documents
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Preference given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in landscape, construction or horticultural field preferred
  • Experience: Previous estimating experience and general experience in landscape, nursery, horticultural or related field preferred.

Additional Info

  • After 90 day probation employee will be eligible for remote work and flexible schedule, ability to attend in person meetings still required (average 1/week).

Education:
