Fulltime Meat Department Sales Clerk

Primary Objective

Responsible for demonstrating a love of food and passion for people that includes incredible Customer Service and performance excellence through department knowledge and technical expertise. As a Meat/Seafood member, the Meat/Seafood Clerk promotes and delivers a shopping experience focused on providing customers the level of service to which we have publicly committed by providing efficient service through hands-on knowledge of Meat/Seafood products. The Meat/Seafood clerk adheres to organizational procedures, policies and systems including food quality standards and food safety and sanitation guidelines. The Meat/Seafood Clerk is focused on driving sales through suggestive selling, sampling, recipe ideas and promoting sales events.

Primary Responsibilities

2. Process Focus – Delivers standard of disciplined, high quality, high paced daily working and shopping conditions.
 Basic product handling skills  Assists with product preparation, packaging, presentation, rotation, replenishment  Ensures in-stock position of available product  Maintains high cleanliness standards – clean as you go, inclusive of washing, cleaning, sweeping, mopping  Working knowledge of all Meat/Seafood equipment  Demonstrates high level of operational execution  Fast paced and exhibits sense of urgency  Working knowledge of Meat/Seafood legal, safety, and sanitation SOP’s  Consistent execution of all Meat/Seafood SOP’s

3. Performance Focus – Assists financial results in Sales and Supplies and Shrink Management.  Accomplished SELLING skills results in additional Sales  Suggestive SELLS and Samples short-coded product  Communicates code dating issues  Communicates Shrink opportunities  Monitors product quality to reduce Shrink  Utilizes appropriate supplies to reduce costs

4. Planning Focus –  Plans SELLING product for each scheduled shift  Plans work duties appropriately during scheduled shift to accomplish all assigned tasks  Identifies department opportunities during scheduled shift and responds accordingly

Functional Requirements:  Interpersonal Skills – Mental - demonstrated success in the areas of energy, initiative, judgment/decision making, effective communications, problem solving, memorization, reading, math  Product Skills – general knowledge of all product in Meat/Seafood department  Process Skills – demonstrated understanding of all Meat/Seafood functions  Analytical Skills – basic understanding of math  Physical Skills – Frequent - ability to lift/carry 6 to 96 lbs., push/pull 150 to 2000 lbs., turning, standing, reaching, squatting/bending, kneeling, walking. Use of fork lift, slicers, knives, pallet jack, flat bed, box cutter, scales, automatic wrapping machine, semi-automatic wrapper, manual wrapper, ordering machine, racks, compactor  Physical Skills – Occasional – lifting/carrying more than 96 lbs., kneeling Mariano’s Fresh Market. Position Description May, 2010  Education or Experience – Minimum High school education or currently enrolled  Environmental – working with a hot surface, extended exposure to colder temperatures – Coolers and Freezers (-20 to 40 degrees)

Pay: $13.40 - $15.10 per hour
