Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications and preparing IV admixtures in a hospital setting
- Use medical terminology to accurately interpret and enter prescription orders
- Utilize aseptic technique when compounding sterile products
- Prepare and label medications for patient use
- Perform medication inventory management and restocking
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication administration
- Provide patient care by answering medication-related questions and offering counseling
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and patient information
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent experience
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations
- Familiarity with different routes of medication administration (e.g., oral, topical, infuse, inhale)
- Experience working in a critical care or hospital pharmacy setting is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
