This opportunity provides in-depth procurement counseling to small business owners while assisting in developing and maintaining community partnerships. The Assistant Program Manager assists the AZ APEX Program Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs offered by the AZ APEX including long and short-term advising, classes, seminars and workshops. Additionally, this opportunity organizes and conducts in-service training, seminars and workshops, and classes to current and prospective small business clients. In the spirit of constant innovation and growth, the Assistant Program Manager assists the AZ APEX Program Manager in coordinating and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual strategic plans, operating plans and reports. Essential Functions
60% Provides counseling services to small business owners and organizes and conducts in-service training, seminars, workshops and classes
15% Assists the AZ APEX Program Manager to manage the daily business activities of the AZ APEX and satellite offices and acts on behalf of the Program Manager as required to manage, monitor and supervise staff.
15% Assists in development of marketing and execution of marketing, promotions and community partnerships; Assists in coordination and preparation and execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; strategic plan to set AZ APEX annual goals and objectives compile reports on counseling hours, workshops, and claimable client satisfaction surveys of the AZ APEX database and website.
10% Implements, and evaluates programs offered by the AZ APEX including long and short-term advising classes, seminars and workshops
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration or related field and four (4) years of small business ownership, business development, economic development or related experience, which includes two (2) years of senior level or lead experience.
OR
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of small business ownership, business development, economic development or related experience, which includes two (2) years of senior level or lead experience.
OR
High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of small business ownership, business development, economic development or related experience, which includes two (2) years of senior level or lead experience.
Desired Qualifications
1. Five (5) or more years of government procurement or related experience
2. Five (5) or more years of small business ownership, management or technical assistance
3. Four (4) or more years of experience in government certifications, registrations, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) or other government regulations
4. Experience in public speaking, presentation and or conducting workshops/seminars
5. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point, Database software and websites
6. Two (2) years of senior level or lead experience in business development, economic development or related experience
7. Experience in working in educational institution or government entity
Special Working Conditions
Extensive travel by automobile in service are required. Addition travel to state and national programs and conference may be required
