Major Duties


Assists human resources technicians and specialists by performing a variety of clerical duties, in support of personnel work, which may include one or more of the following: recruiting, processing personnel actions, benefits, including dental, medical and insurance claims, workman's compensation, orientation, training, exit interviews, special projects, etc.

Types a variety of material such as personnel action changes, forms, reports, award certificates, directives, etc. May prepare various personnel reports and statistics related to assigned functions. May operate computer to input data to update and maintain records, e.g., manning levels and other pertinent data. Position may also be responsible for drafting local procedural instructions relating to the functional specialty

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


A minimum of one year of experience performing clerical work to support personnel function areas. Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations and policies applicable to the program areas assigned. Knowledge of established clerical procedures. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization. Ability to type. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
