JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing Services
FLSA: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides, plans, directs and documents professional nursing care for Mariposa Community
Health Center’s patients following established standards and practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrate excellent patient/client relations skills, e.g.,
Smile and greet patients/clients immediately
Engage all patients/clients in a genuine, warm and caring manner
2. Respond to requests for assistance from colleagues at Mariposa in a positive, helpful manner
3. Responsible for ensuring sterilization equipment machine checks are completed on a monthly basis.
4. Responsible for ensuring needed supplies are ordered and stocked as needed.
5. Utilizes the nursing process and accepts responsibility in the administration of direct nursing care to patients in accordance with nursing/clinic policies, procedures and standards according to the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Acts as a resource to co-workers.
6. Obtains data necessary to deliver quality patient care from patient history, vital signs, charts, interviews, observations, physical assessment, etc., while assuring the safety, comfort and well- being of the patient.
7. Documents procedures, medications, deliver of care, and pertinent information regarding nursing care rendered to the patient.
8. Collaborates with physician and other health care providers in the assessment and/or changes of patient status including the delivery of patient care.
9. Ability and willingness to provide intravenous and central line therapy, while maintaining aseptic/sterile environment.
10. Serves as an educator providing patient education materials, instruction and support regarding procedures, diagnostic tests, health promotion and disease prevention to patients, families and other health care members.
11. Maintains patient confidentiality.
12. Complies with quality assurance, safety, infection control and emergency procedures consistent with clinic policy.
13. Participates in personal growth and development of nursing through publications, seminars, workshops, conferences, and professional affiliations.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Upon the absence of the Nursing Director and RN team leader, will assume the role of nursing leader and oversee the day-to-day operation of medical assistants.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
2. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
3. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds
4. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
5. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
6. Requires exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
2. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
3. Must be able to operate medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
4. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
5. Apply and modify the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.
6. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
7. Prepare and maintain records and reports.
8. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
10. Knowledge and ability in maintaining quality control standards.
11. Must be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
12. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
13. Ability to communicate clearly.
14. Ability to assess the specific age-related needs of patients
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
1. Possession of a current State of Arizona Registered Nurse license.
2. CPR certification.
3. ACLS or PALS certification preferred.
