JOB SUMMARY:
The Mailing Manager is responsible for staffing and initiatives to increase efficiencies and production standards in the Mailing department. The MM participates in the selection of new equipment, production staff and directs all training. The MM is responsible for resolving production issues in collaboration with internal teams.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for overseeing the production of mailing jobs, including inserters, inkjets, and other Mailing equipment. The manager ensure that the operators consistently do the following:
  • Produce a high-quality product according to customer specifications.
  • Meet daily schedule requirements without sacrificing quality
  • Meets or exceeds established production standards for speed and quality
  • Responsible for machine set-up and communication with Helper regarding requirements of the job.
  • Work with Mailing Helpers to increase throughput including expediting make-readies and wash-ups.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure consistent processes.
  • Performs First Article Checklist procedure for every job to prevent errors.
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Identify, recommend and implement areas for process improvement/modification.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues and defects in a timely manner.
  • Consistently utilize resources to maximize cost reduction/cost control efforts.
  • Participate in training and cross-training with an open and positive attitude.
  • Assist with experimental functions to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials as directed.
  • Ensure tools and supplies are properly maintained.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such replacement of small parts, cleaning and minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts.
  • Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all mailing operations.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for mailing operations.
  • Work safely, abide by and promote established safety policies and procedures. Identify and follow-up on unsafe conditions.
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and completes various tasks as requested by management.
  • Adheres to a high standard of professionalism in all communications and interactions.
The Mailing Manager is responsible for providing regular feedback pertaining to job performance and for implementing disciplinary measures as needed.
The Manager will collaborate with the Plant Manager and other department supervisors to ensure job specifications are clear and delivery deadlines are met.
The Mailing Manager will promote an environment of high-quality work, employee performance recognition and adherence to safety standards.
The Manager is responsible for overseeing new hire training and development.
The manager will continuously monitor and improve workflow efficiencies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School degree or equivalent, and two or more years in a Lead Operator position on a Mailing Inkjet and/or Inserter is preferred
  • Supervisory experience within manufacturing, preferably 2-4 years in mailing operations
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Must have the ability to think through the mechanical aspects of press operations and decision making.
  • Able to manage time effectively on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines.
  • Must have basic math, reading, writing skills, and possess the ability to tactfully communicate to the lead operator and employees of all levels of the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and the ability to speak and communicate effectively
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A strong sense of urgency and customer focus.
  • Availability for overtime as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Incumbent must be able to:
  • Perform very heavy work, lifting up to 45 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time, at least 8 hours daily, based on duty being performed.
  • Physical ability to move around building area repeatedly throughout the day.

  • Must have color vision to accurately distinguish between a wide variety of colors used in the printing process.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes, and short notice activity.
