The Opportunity:

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for analyzing and coordinating our organizations sourcing activities through RFQ’s, analysis, strategic partnerships, managing supplier agreements, and leading negotiations. This role will also be responsible for developing strategies for Marketlab’s overall commodity and contract manufacturing suppliers.

This role reports to the Director of Supply Chain.

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Raw Material Commodities Expertise: The Sourcing Manager will work heavily with raw material commodities and must understand and have a working knowledge of how to create and implement the best strategy for sourcing them. Must be able to work with multiple suppliers and negotiate agreements that align with Marketlab products and growth objectives.
  • Procurement Strategy: Find sustainable sources within the purchasing function of Marketlab to provide the most value for the company. The ideal candidate will be one who can set high, yet realistic objectives surrounding Marketlab’s spending on materials and resources.
  • Analytics: Use high analytical techniques, such as spreadsheets and other forecasting software, to understand current purchasing trends and find ways to add value to Marketlab products in a cost-effective manner without compromising quality and customer satisfaction.
    • Analyze any risks that may occur and apply risk minimizing techniques based off data.
  • Strong Business Acumen: Utilize past experiences in sourcing and procurement to anticipate market trends that will influence Marketlab. It will be extremely important to proactively address any changes to the market to ensure that Marketlab is able to consistently provide quality products in a timely manner.
  • Category Management Strategies: Work with the Supply Chain team to implement a robust Supplier Management program that focuses on developing suppliers and continually analyzing data to meet current and projected customer demand.
  • Cost Analysis: Apply benchmarking techniques that will analyze cost and help to create and maintain partnerships with trustworthy suppliers that will deliver quality materials in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Functional Expertise in ERP: Utilize Marketlab’s ERP system throughout the entire sourcing process to manage purchasing efforts and activities across the organization in an effective and efficient manner.

What You’ll Do:

  • Negotiate and lead our commodity purchase direction and agreements with suppliers.
  • Develop strategic sourcing partnerships with commodity, contract manufacturing and private label suppliers.
  • Monitor commodity indexes and work with buyers to understand demand and needs for the organization.
  • Develop strategies to manage our raw material commodities to optimize cost, continuity of supply and performance.
  • Issue and negotiate RFQ’s for best possible terms and cost for the organization.
  • Conduct Make versus Buy sourcing analysis via RFQ’s and cross-functional project evaluation to determine the best source for products.
  • Evaluate resource opportunities between multiple suppliers to set the operational direction of purchasing.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Management Operations Lead, Buyer, and Director of Manufacturing on make vs buy projects, supplier performance, new outsourcing needs, and RFQs needed.
  • Lead and initiate all raw stock agreements and negotiations for raw materials, private label, contract manufacturing, and private label initiatives.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and analytical skills to best evaluate and manager the sourcing functions within Marketlab. They will create strategic relationships with vendors and analyze supply chain data to solve problems and help to achieve overall business goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a sourcing role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to act decisively.
  • International and domestic sourcing experience required.
  • 3 years of commodity-based sourcing experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
