JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CAREGIVER & CNA
1. Receive reports about each resident. Note the resident’s immediate need at this time and attend promptly after making rounds.
2. Check for any communication concerning changes or information regarding the residents.
3. Change depends and remember to put your initial, the date, and the time that the depend was put on the resident. Assist residents to bathroom as needed. Offer toileting to those that need prompting on an every 2 hour basis.
4. Give baths as they are scheduled and clean any incontinent patient as deemed necessary to promote good hygiene.
5. Change linens and strip beds after each incontinent episode, make the resident’s bed and remove dirty linens by taking them to laundry.
6. Answer any call light immediately. Provide help as needed and if necessary, inform the administrative person on call.
7. Plan your mealtime as posted and follow guidelines about eating with residents if you choose to eat the meal provided for you.
8. Complete resident charting and document any unusual happenings. Fill out incident reports promptly and accurately.
9. Remove trash from all rooms and dispose of bulk into dumpster, remembering to never leave your floor unattended.
10. Clean, vacuum, and wipe surfaces of sitting room areas, nursing station, and bathroom areas each shift. Spray the handrails and clean them while the residents are in bed.
11. Attend all in-services as scheduled and be on time.
12. Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
13. Residents must be reminded of meal times and assisted as necessary with opening milk cartons, cutting meats, etc. You are expected to monitor their appetites at this time and report to you supervisor those that seem to be having difficulty eating or exhibit poor eating habits.
14. If a tray is carried to a resident’s room, return the tray to the dining room as soon as possible.
15. Notify supervisor of resident’s needs for soap, toothpaste, clothing items, etc.
16. Perform B/P checks, pulse checks and blood sugar checks as requested.
17. Involve your residents in planned activities and encourage socialization with others.
18. Redirect wandering residents as necessary and maintain safety.
19. Ask for help when it is needed for your safety and that of the resident.
20. Perform tasks such as curling hair, giving manicures, etc. as your time allows.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
