What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Supervisor position at Martin Marietta?
Position Summary
Ensure that production and shipments of aggregate are in compliance with DOT and other specifications by supporting and training QC technicians and other plant personnel to test and follow best practices at 3-5 local quarries.
Requirements
- Directly supervise three aggregate technicians.
- Visit asphalt paving projects to provide customer service and sample mix(s) in support of Asphalt Lab operations.
- Visit concrete pours/placements and plants to provide QC support and customer service.
- Prepare concrete mix submittal for Sales Department as needed.
- Provide QC reports to customers.
- Understand and participate directly in the company’s safety culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Reports to Division Technical Director.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree is preferred. Extensive, related experience may substitute for college degree
- Minimum of five years' combined experience in aggregate, concrete, asphalt, or construction materials testing
- Basic computer data input and analysis skills; knowledge of Command QC and AggQC preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand, and follow test procedures and instructions
- Effective communication and supervisory skills (written and verbal)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access)
- Ability to work outdoors and lift 50 lb. samples
- This position requires math skills including working knowledge of percentages, ratios, statistics, and algebraic equations
- Valid driver's license
