What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN - Outpatient Clinic position at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital?
Responsible for making sure that clinics run smoothly. Provides input to the Team in establishing a plan of care for the patients. Assists Clinic RN's and Department Manager with a variety of technical skill and special projects.

Age Specific Responsibility:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
A. Performs Clinic duties
- Prepares Clinic charts. Reviews charts for lab or x-ray orders and obtains outside information and films.
- Directs clinic flow by putting patients in rooms.
- Provides charts to therapists and physicians.
- Obtains height, weight, and head circumference on pediatric patients.
- Writes laboratory and x-ray orders as requested by physicians.
- Obtains urine specimens and prepares patients for urologist examination.
- Obtains blood pressure and pulse readings.
- Arranges medical consultations, medical tests and surgery referrals as requested by the physician.
B. Arranges for Kidney studies on spinal cord injury patients, as requested by the physician.
C. Assists physician with intramuscular neurolysis.
D. Functions within the limits of the State Nurse Practice and abides by the standards, policies and procedures set forth by the Hospital and the Clinic.
Other Job Responsibilities:
E. Assists with patient transfers, as needed.
F. Orders Medical Supplies.
Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):
- Current Michigan LPN License.
- Two years of clinical experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Maintains competency according to competency Program requirements.
Other Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Work experience in Rehabilitation (spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, and/or traumatic brain injury).
