What You'll Do:
As a Sous Chef, you will carry out our Mission of Love by assisting the Chef in supervising and instructing designated Restaurant Kitchen Personnel in the preparation and cooking of all food items to maintain high quality standards, and supervise all kitchen personnel, instruct, and assist in maintaining proper sanitation throughout all food preparation and storage areas.
Our Sous Chef is responsible for the following:
- Prepares and cooks main course food items according to various established procedures or as required.
- Supervises or directs the preparation of all major or secondary food items and prepares or directs the preparation of supplemental foods.
- Assists with the planning of menus and orders the food accordingly and checks deliveries of the various food and supplies received from the vendors. Assists in proper storage of all food items.
- Oversees the food and supply inventory required for the overall food operation and reorders supplies as necessary. Performs yearly small wares inventory, develops list of small wares recommendations on a yearly basis.
- Supervises and instructs in maintenance of high standards of sanitation, safety, and care of operating the various types of equipment needed in the preparation of the meals.
- Prepares schedules and assigns kitchen personnel to the daily tasks that are required.
- Assists with orienting new employees and instructs and trains them in work procedures which are essential for all food service operations.
What You Have:
- Graduate of an accredited chef's school or college.
- Four years of experience in cooking, restaurant or volume, or a combination.
- At least one year of supervisory experience in a high volume a la carte restaurant or food service management field.
- Good written and oral communication and proficient with computer applications.
