GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The McCance Center for Brain Health in the Neurology Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is a Harvard affiliated Center in Boston well poised to the discovery of interventions that promote brain health. The Clinical Trials Program within the McCance Center is building up capacity for conducting state-of-the-art interventions ranging from novel small compounds to multi-domain lifestyle interventions for the prevention of neurological disorders (i.e., Alzheimer and Parkinson disease, vascular dementia). Current faculty and staff are interdisciplinary, including expertise in neurology, psychiatry, neuroscience, genetics, nutritional metabolism, exercise science, sleep, data sciences, clinical and observational research. We are looking for a Biostatistician leader to join our team.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Clinical Trials Director, the Sr. Biostatistician will be responsible for the following:
- Composing statistical analysis plans for human investigations, including clinical trials and observational studies
- Analysis of nutritional, genetic and 'omic' fluid biomarker data in relation to cognition, neuropathology and neuroimaging outcomes
- Develop/implement new and creative statistical approaches to the analysis of clinical trial and high dimension data
- Develop/implement new and creative data capture approaches to streamline our clinical research databases
- Advise on study design, sample and power calculations and ensure integrity of randomization schemes in clinical trials
- Contribute to Data and Safety Monitoring Board and Food and Drug Administration reports
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Experience with longitudinal and high dimensional data in clinical trial settings
- Experience through publication of clinical trial designs, including precision medicine approaches is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow through and timely reporting of results
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
Certified Clinical Research Professional preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree required. Doctoral Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Minimum of 5 years related experience
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (authority to hire, promote, or terminate):
Direct: Management of 1 - 3 Data Analysts
Indirect: Provides support to direct reports, who are also directly analyzing data
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Lab and office setting.
Some travel may be required.
