What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fellow position at Massachusetts General Hospital?
The Division of Infectious Diseases at MGH is seeking to hire a full-time (1.0 FTE) Postdoctoral Fellow to work on studies focused on human papillomavirus (HPV) infections/cervical cancer among people living in low-and-middle-income settings. This position will be responsible for leading epidemiological studies and mathematical modeling analyses focused on elucidating cervical cancer natural history, evaluating primary and secondary cervical cancer prevention methods, and accessing the interactions between HPV and HIV infections.
Under the supervision of Dr. Ruanne Barnabas, Chief of Division of Infectious Diseases, the Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with faculty and staff within MGH, with departments and research groups at the University of Washington (e.g., Departments of Global Health and Epidemiology, School of Medicine), and with international collaborators. As a Postdoctoral Fellow you will be contributing to research study design, data analysis, scientific information dissemination through conference presentations and publications, training, and leading and/or mentoring junior staff. This position requires the abilities to meet project deadlines and research objectives, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively with domestic and international researchers, clinicians, and infectious disease modelers.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under direction from the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the following activities, including, but not limited to:
- Independently carry out epidemiological and modeling analyses and participate in reciprocal research projects.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs new and existing projects related to HPV, cervical cancer, and HIV
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of study staff, research consultants, and undergraduate and graduate students
- Organize and conduct research group meetings.
- Track deliverables and plan work to meet expected timelines.
- Write conference abstracts and scientific manuscripts.
- Support and lead grant writing.
- Manage specimen transfer and testing, ensuring all regulatory standards are met.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/DEGREE EXPERIENCE:
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or other health-related field
- 3 years of experience in public health, epidemiology, clinical research, clinical care, or other health-related field
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skills, knowledge, and experience working in epidemiology, public health, or infectious disease modeling.
- PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, or other health-related field
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (or similar packages)
- Proficient in analysis and coding with statistical software packages (Stata, R, SAS, etc)
- Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills with proven ability for effective cross-cultural communication
