The Buyer/Planner will be integral to the fulfillment team of the Lifecycle Performance Services Organization (LPS). In this role, the Buyer/Planner will have direct responsibility for assigned supply chain transactions, planning and relationships, as well as interface with many parts of the MHS business. The Buyer/Planner will manage purchased materials and services considering price, quality and delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Analyze the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed. Solicit and evaluate proposals for the requested commodity. Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs. Create and implement purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations. Assure that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. Develop and implement material schedules to meet sales and material inventory objectives. Contact suppliers to verify deliveries and/or expedite material if required to meet schedules. Evaluate economic impact of all schedule changes and make recommendations to management concerning alternatives. Assist LPS Parts Sales and Inventory Management in the planning load levels. Coordinate schedules with project managers relative to lead-time required for the procurement of materials, services and processes. Supervise and expedite rush orders and materials that are short and revises schedules to offset delays. Accurately process business transactions using ERP software. Provide daily support to internal and external customers via phone and e-mail. Other duties as required. Individual must be self-motivated, detailed oriented and results focused. Limited travel required. Perform other job duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. A college degree or coursework in pursuit of a college / technical college degree is a plus. Two or more years of experience within an industrial machinery environment. Experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Good understanding of computer ERP software applications preferred. Internet savvy, familiar with search routines, website navigation, and electronic media.
