About the Role
The Longshoreman will work on lashing and unlashing shipboard containers. The position will also work on loading and discharging containers, automobiles, and cargo from vessels and barges.
What you’ll do:
- Lash and unlash shipboard containers.
- Load and discharge containers, automobiles, and cargo from vessels and barges.
You have these skills:
- Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment.
- Must be able to operate automatic and standard shift vehicles.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
And these qualifications:
- Must be available for shift work; days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work outside.
- This position involves working in a noisy environment wearing hearing protectors (P.P.E.) for considerable periods during the working day.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
- Selected candidate must be able to pass an agility test and obtain a Marsec card.
Extra credit if you have:
- Cargo transportation industry experience.
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.
The hourly rate of pay for this position in Hawaii is $52.17.
