Position Summary: The Inventory Specialist is responsible for coordinating, documenting and reporting the activity and strategic objectives relating to the efficient procurement, receipt, transport, storage, distribution and utilization of major raw materials for the production of fiber containers.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with material and transport suppliers to meet or exceed the materials requirements for the plant.
  • Maintain and optimize real time data in material inventory management system.
  • Prepare records, documents and reports tracking and projecting critical data related to materials.
  • Act as internal resource and coordinator for materials.
  • Responsible for processing all incoming product to identify damage, weight, count or paperwork issues. Must ensure that incoming product is properly identified and labeled at all times and put in the proper staging or storage area.
  • Organizes product in warehouse to aid in inventory counting. Responsible for coordination and direction of personnel in formal inventory (quarterly, annual) counting.
  • Negotiate best value and outcomes based upon current and projected needs and market conditions.
  • Maintain database of existing or potential suppliers and carriers.
  • Continuously improve methods of documenting and reporting material data in order to optimize all aspects of the supply chain.
  • Conduct physical or virtual inventory audits to identify and report discrepancies.
  • Interact with suppliers to implement transitions and material specifications changes to support production processes or reduce costs.
  • Stay abreast of market, supplier and material developments.
  • Identify new or potential sources, trends or applications as they develop.
  • Coordinates all incoming production material schedules.
  • Maintains overall inventory control, to maximize available space and ensure JIT and FIFO shipping receiving practices.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Up to three (3) years successful experience in a manufacturing plant managing materials and/or inventory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of product and its application.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well within a fast-paced environment.
  • Needs to be able to make independent decisions and have a team player attitude.
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are extremely important.
  • Efficient work ethic producing a thorough, high quality work product.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a variety of situations and levels.
  • Ability to anticipate, quantify and adapt to changing parameters in a time sensitive environment.
  • Will work closely with internal materials personnel, Operations/Plant Managers, Accounting, Audit Personnel and external suppliers.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a variety of situations and levels.
  • Must be proficient with computers and MS Office.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. overhead.
  • Requires good hand/eye/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and/or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Quality / ISO 9000 / LEAN manufacturing a plus.
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Salary : $66,200 - $83,900
