Position Summary The Inside Sales Associate maintains customer relationships and obtains orders from existing customers. S/he also secures new customers by supporting assigned outside account manager(s) and calling or visiting customers. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Generate material quotations for outside account manager(s) and customers per their specification and expectations. Track customer orders for on-time delivery and appropriate billing. Handle customer returns and credits in a timely fashion. Follow up (by phone or visit) on quotations submitted to customers. Establish professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate customer personnel (purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, management, other key personnel). Initiate and manage supplier involvement in the marketing of key product lines and new start-ups. Meet margin dollar goals as agreed upon during forecasting with the branch or sales manager. Maintain communications with key internal resources concerning customer relations and responds to concerns in a timely manner. Communicate promotional activities to key customers in a timely manner. Maintain key supplier rapport promoting Mayer as First Choice for suppliers while focused on Mayer branding. Additional Responsibilities Serve as back up for counter sales at assigned branch. Participate in rotational “on-call” duty for assigned branch. Participate in joint sales calls with outside account manager(s) and supplier representatives. Perform assigned duties with minimum personal supervision from the branch manager. Actively participate in and contribute to Mayer’s Continuous Quality Improvement efforts. Complete assigned training in a timely manner. May participate in or assist with physical inventory preparation or process. Demonstrate commitment to Mayer’s core values and vision to be First Choice with our suppliers, customers, and associates. Complete all other appropriate tasks or duties assigned by supervisor. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Self-motivated and a self-starter Sense of urgency, with excellent sales and customer service skills Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and ERP systems Qualifications Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED, or some high school with applicable experience. One year of counter sales experience. NAED EDGE or CounterPro certification Desired Qualifications: Some college or technical school training. Two years of counter sales experience with Mayer, or previous inside sales experience in the electrical distribution industry. NAED EPEC Bronze certification. Other Work Environment: The Inside Sales Associate’s work is primarily accomplished in an office setting using a telephone and a computer. Some may travel to customer sites to support sales. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. Travel Requirements: Overnight travel may be required on occasion to attend training or meetings. Our pre-employment screenings include employment
