Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is the business executive of Mayo Clinic’s Center for Digital Health. The Center for Digital Health is a key strategic component of our plan to remain the global leader in the care of people with serious or complex conditions. To sustain our leadership position, we are continually innovating and reimagining the delivery of health care. The Mayo Clinic Center for Digital Health provides the essential infrastructure and capabilities for Mayo Clinic to create a comprehensive and coherent digital experience, blended with our physical assets and people, for both internal and external constituents.
The CDO is responsible for end-to-end strategy, design, and implementation of Mayo Clinic’s digital roadmap. The CDO will utilize expertise in customer experience, design and change management to build upon Mayo Clinic’s unmatched digital assets to enable world-class experiences for all customers: patients, staff and others interacting with Mayo Clinic. The CDO partners with the Medical Director of the Center for Digital Health and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Mayo Clinic has a strong teamwork and collaboration culture; therefore, the CDO will deploy influence and relationship skills across the organization. The selected person should have deep experience aligning multiple stakeholders, creating agreed-upon prioritization and working to generate enthusiasm and endorsement from leadership teams and a broad, diverse workforce toward organizational change. The CDO will partner closely with Information Technology to ensure resources are appropriately prioritized, avoiding redundancy, to provide clarity on omnichannel deliverables to transform the patient and staff experience in a manner that reflects Mayo’s category-of-one excellence.
In addition, the Center for Digital Health coordinates with Mayo Clinic Platform, the world’s foremost managed platform for the development and deployment of AI-based healthcare solutions. The CDO assures that Mayo Clinic’s solutions, when appropriate, can be scaled externally through the Platform and other’s solutions developed on the platform, when appropriate, can be implemented at Mayo Clinic.

Ideal Candidate Profile/Qualifications:
- Significant experience with digital transformation.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and deep experience building and transforming an organization’s digital strategy; relevant business and technology experience required, with healthcare experience preferred.
- Previous experience providing expertise to multiple domains (e.g., customer facing, back office) preferred.
- An understanding of healthcare globally, underlying markets, and key market drivers, including consumerism and digitization in other industries and the value of data analytics in acting on external disruption and market trends.
- Demonstrated track record of effective change management and the ability to build consensus amongst competing stakeholders.
- Successful experience in building, developing, leading, motivating, scaling and aligning high-performing teams.
- Strong alignment with Mayo Clinic’s primary and core values.
- Moderate travel required between Mayo Clinic’s sites and external partners/venues.
- Individual to be based in Rochester, MN (preferred), Phoenix, AZ, or Jacksonville, FL.
