Overview
As an Engineering Manager at MEC, you will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through project team members.
Responsibilities
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project
Has responsibility for assigned projects from conception to end of life.
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
Provides leadership for MEC team in cost reduction efforts.
Provides input at customer site by suggesting alternate designs to reduce manufacturing cost.
Practices strong interpersonal skills to develop customer relationships and the team concept in the MEC unit.
Supports MEC sales department in serving our customers.
Train and develop Manufacturing Engineers and improve systems used by engineering group.
Oversee and balance workload.
Investigate and implement best practices for this function.
Develop and initiate procedures, methods and processes for projects.
Establish and adjust departmental priorities. Assign or shift resources as necessary.
Participate in project reviews to insure effectiveness of APQP initiative.
Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
Qualifications
Bachelor's in an engineering related field or more than 10 years related experience, or equivalent combination of both. Computer skills - proficient in basic skills including Word, Excel and Project.
