Job Description:
The McDonald's Corporate Development & Strategy function has guided and supported key organic and inorganic growth-oriented priorities across the Globe. These include the launch of the company's overall long-term growth strategy ("Accelerating the Arches"), as well as acquisitions and divestitures of several businesses.
The Corporate Development & Strategy Manager role contributes to these priorities by leading and supporting selected cross-functional strategic projects and partnering with senior leaders on a variety of efforts. Based out of of global headquarters in the West Loop of Chicago, the Corporate Development & Strategy Manager will be responsible for:
- Competitive Intelligence / Benchmarking - building a more robust function around: tracking and evaluating competitors (i.e., by technology, product,, etc.); and leading strategic exercises (e.g., war gaming)
- Strategic Planning / Board support - targeted support of markets and functions during our short and long term strategic planning process. Additionally, providing support in preparing materials for quarterly Board meetings
- Customer Segmentation support - supporting the Global Insights team in understanding our customers better through in depth customer research and analysis
- Select large strategic analysis support - partnering with other functions and teams to support key initiatives and explorations
- Select Business Development work - process and analytics support on inorganic evaluations
- Trend analysis - supporting analysis behind creation of a more robust view on overall macro trends (e.g., automation, urbanization)
- Data and analytics - partnering with the various data analytic departments including IT and Business intelligence to translate data to insights
- Internal strategy consulting support - partnering with business units and functions to support key initiatives and explorations. This includes partnering with senior leaders as we continue to fortify our strategy
- Project management support - creating structure and supporting key initiatives to ensure robust execution
- Select Corporate Development work - process and analytics support on inorganic evaluations and strategic supplier partnerships
- Accelerator partnership - leading relationships with external early-stage investors, accelerators, and corporate innovation platforms
Qualifications:
Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Tech, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or Economics
- 3 years essential experience in strategy, finance, marketing, or insights
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Prior experience working with local-global organizations, either in market or corporate roles
- Excellent project management capabilities and ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous projects
- Collaboration and communication skills - a stand-out colleague who can form relationships across markets and functions
- Strong analytical and presentation development capabilities
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Qualities supporting growth of the Global Strategy & BD team's reputation within McDonald's
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Big 4 experience
- Previous investment banking experience
- Restaurant/Hospitality industry experience
