The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding a Marketing Manager to our growing Enterprise Sales and Marketing division in Seattle, Washington. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:
Marketing Management
- Manage, plan and position McKinstry’s production workload, including:
- Write and design proposal and project pursuit content.
- Ensure proposal deadlines are met by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering.
- Develop win strategies and differentiators, working hand-and-hand with sales staff and BD leadership.
- Update and maintain current resumes, project descriptions, narratives, photography, and other collateral and marketing materials.
- Read and analyze RFQ/RFP’s and edit proposal content for readability, consistency, clarity, and compliance with requirements.
- Manage strong working relationships with sales staff and BD leadership to ensure proposal input is accurate, compelling, and timely.
- Prepare presentations for interviews and help coach sales staff on presentation skills.
- Conduct post-mortems on key opportunities to identify and act upon areas of improvement.
- Engage with line of business and/or business unit leaders to develop and influence winning strategies and messaging to effectively position McKinstry to win the right work.
- Act as marketing partner to business units to understand ongoing business needs and effectively implement processes to meet those needs.
- Understand the clients, industry trends, and strategy needed to win work for McKinstry
- Maintain knowledge of the AEC industry, including the key clients, our capabilities, staff, and primary competitors.
- Manage improvement processes for marketing team.
- Ensure company-wide adherence to brand standards.
- Clear understanding of McKinstry’s strategic initiatives and drive these messages into client-facing communication and marketing materials.
- Lead strategic marketing planning and execution for new McKinstry initiatives and markets.
- Oversee marketing programs and project workload and lead cross-functional teams and internal resources with limited to no supervision.
- Serve as McKinstry SME for direct client communications and sales strategy for line of business and/or operating company.
- Train on enterprise marketing standards, tools, and best practices.
People Management
- Recruit and hire staff.
- Set performance goals and conduct performance evaluations for assigned staff.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and motivation to assigned staff.
- Be a model for clear and effective communication and collaboration across the business.
- Assign production workload and oversee quality of deliverables for assigned staff.
- Track and report on staff utilization, productivity, and workload metrics.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
- Required to work in person at McKinstry’s Seattle office
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
- 10 years of working experience in a marketing or communications role in architecture, engineering or construction (AEC) industry or similar capacity required.
- Seasoned management professional with 4 years of experience managing marketing or communications professionals required.
- Demonstrated success effectively interacting with senior leaders and managing strategies and projects that connect to business outcomes.
- Experience responding to RFQs, RFPs and developing/facilitating presentations required.
- Expertise in writing, proofreading and editing required.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite ‐ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook required; working knowledge of SharePoint and Salesforce preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products preferred.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor and train staff.
- Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable to deadlines, assignments, produce excellent results, and maintaining attention to accuracy and detail.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines required.

The pay range for this position is $80,100- $134,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
