Description
The primary role of this position is to support all aspects of the Foundry operation. Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas from small to large scope. Execute and improve production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality. Gather, review, and analyze data to understand trends and determine priorities for improvement efforts.
Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
- Follow direction provided by supervisor or designee.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
- Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization’s core values.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Participate in production and general design reviews as requested.
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to validate foundry processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
- Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability and minimize cost.
- Design pattern layouts and gating with consideration to safety, efficiency, and downstream processes.
- Design and interpretation of pattern gating simulations for flow and solidification.
- Develop, document and improve manufacturing yields by analyzing product and manufacturing methods.
- Provide data to define and resolve customer issues.
- Assist various foundry personnel in the performance of their duties.
- Lead and completion of special projects.
Education/Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or other equivalent training and experience.
- One-three (1-3) years of experience in a similar position.
Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:
- Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D solid modeling CAD programs.
- Experience with solidification analysis software such as InspireCast or Magma
- Ability to spend time working different shifts as required.
- Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Physical Requirements:
This position is typically located in an office and manufacturing setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically and internationally. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both oral and written communication. Ability to maneuver (move, life, carry, etc.) up to 50 lbs.
