SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care and customer service assistance to the ambulatory care patient, as delegated, and support daily operations of the center.
Medical Assistant opportunity in the Surgery - League City HAL. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least two years of Medical Assistant experience. Certified Medical Assistant is a plus
Shift: Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30pm will be assigned to the Covid Clinic
Key Functions
Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures.
Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms.
Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care.
Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work.
Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review.
Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing (such as finger stick glucose and EKG tests).
Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital.
Must position, lift and move patients as needed.
Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment.
Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies.
Processes all required paperwork.
Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Required: High school diploma/equivalent.
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program. With preferred degree, no experience is required.
Experience
Required: One year of medical assistant experience.
Preferred: Two years of medical assistant experience
