Responsibilities:
- Transports patients safely in an ambulance to and from medical appointments.
- Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses and all certifications, licenses and registrations.
- Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Recognize and treat any medical condition with appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of all State and County protocols.
- Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center.
- Communicates with regularly with dispatch team regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information.
- Be flexible as services operate on a 24-hour clock- your work shift schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
- Thoroughly documents medical care given to patients in EHR system.
- Obtains necessary signatures and paperwork for each transport.
- Provide top tier medical transport to medical facilities by assuming responsibilities for medical care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to safely lift the stretcher (must be able to lift and carry 125 pounds)
- Upon request provides assistance to the receiving medical facility staff.
- Operates MedEx vehicles while complying with North Carolina State Law and company policies.
- Ensures that the ambulance is clean, washed and kept in a neat orderly condition
- Determines that vehicle is in proper mechanical condition by performing daily check off sheets and reporting known issues.
- Inventory, replace, and clean supplies and equipment after each use.
- Ensures equipment is in a state of readiness and reports repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
- Makes careful check of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run.
- Assists in completing any office duties, which may include cleaning office and living space.
- Attends continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical control, licensing or certifying agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current NC EMR certification.
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License.
- Driving record in compliance with MedEx Safety and Driving policy.
- Must be physically able to meet the demands of the position.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
