The North Bend Public Library is seeking customer service-oriented applicants with great attention to detail. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about serving the community and has good communication skills.
This position provides services directly to patrons of all ages at the public service desk and assists patrons using the library 's computers and electronic resources.
Familiarity with technology and excellent customer service skills are required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials is desirable.
Experience working in public services, preferably in a public library, is highly preferred. Any other satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work may be considered.
Performs circulation-related functions using the library 's integrated library system (ILS) software including checking out, renewing, searching for items, and placing holds.
Creates and updates patron records using the ILS, including generating new records, renewing records, updating information, and collecting fines.
Provides reference and reader 's advisory guidance to patrons. Assists and instructs patrons in using library services, equipment, and facilities.
Maintains an inventory of office supplies. Submits to the Library Director purchase order requisitions for equipment and other proposed purchases as needed;
verifies and refers invoices to Accounts Payable or the Library Director for payment. Checks in returned library materials using the ILS and routes items to the proper library.
Generates hold paging slips and retrieves items from library shelves. The position has planning and goal-setting responsibilities as part of a group.
