The library page is an entry-level position under the supervision of the department manager.A library page helps shelve and organize library collection materials.

The position reshelves library material, reads shelves, shifts materials and applies acquired knowledge to help customers locate items.

The work requires an understanding how the library is organized.

This includes organizing items on carts and putting items back on shelves in the correct order.Must be detail-oriented and competent in finding books that are out of order or in the incorrect place, relocating and shifting items when room is needed for materials to fiton the shelves.

Identifies damaged items and sets them aside for repair.Separates old newspapers for recycling.Has excellent customer service skills and a friendly demeanor;

must be willing to assist patrons in locating items and direct them towards the public service desks.Comfortable working in different areas of the library in a busy environment.

Capable of pushing a cart full of books weighing up to 60-70 lbs., as well as lifting library materials weighing approximately 35 lbs.

Qualifications

Required : Verifiable work record that demonstrates good attendance, a hard worker, and ability to work well with others.

All positions are subject to an interview process. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Work Schedule : Generally will work around 10 hours per week, including evening and weekends with some flexibility. Hours may fluctuate based on operational and seasonal needs.
