Position Description:

The Division of Pediatric Pathology at Children’s Wisconsin (CW), within the Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), is seeking a full-time pediatric pathologist at the level of Associate Professor or Professor, to serve as Director of Pediatric Anatomic Pathology. This position includes a full-time faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology at MCW at a rank and salary commensurate with experience.

MCW offers our faculty an enriching environment with myriad administrative, clinical, educational, and research opportunities spanning the whole spectrum of academic pediatric pathology. Clinical responsibilities will include anatomic pathology work in the division of Pediatric Pathology at CW with shared call responsibilities and autopsy coverage. Administrative duties will include Pediatric Anatomic Pathology Directorship, with oversight of the surgical pathology, cytopathology/fine needle aspiration, and autopsy services and appointment as Medical Director of the CW Histology Laboratory. Academic responsibilities will include teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and participation in clinical, translational, or basic science research.

Children’s Wisconsin, located in Milwaukee, WI, is a nationally recognized and ranked 298 bed pediatric hospital serving as the only free-standing pediatric children’s hospital in the state of Wisconsin. The pediatric oncology program sees approximately 40-50 new solid tumor diagnoses, 60-70 new hematopoietic malignancies, and robustly enrolls patients in Children’s Oncology Group and other clinical trials. CW is designated as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons and has active heart, liver, and kidney transplant programs. CW is also only the third pediatric hospital in the country designated as a “Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.”

The Division of Pediatric Pathology offers services in anatomic pathology, hematopathology, flow cytometry, molecular testing, clinical chemistry, and microbiology. It offers subspecialty expertise in hematopathology, cytopathology, pediatric solid tumor pathology, vascular malformations, and perinatal/placental pathology. Divisional faculty are strongly involved in the activities and leadership of the Children’s Oncology Group and Society for Pediatric Pathology. The division has an ACGME-accredited pediatric pathology fellowship program, and AP/CP residents routinely rotate on service. It annually handles over 7,000 surgical pathology & cytopathology specimens, 150 bone marrow specimens, 950 placentas, and 60 autopsies. The CW Laboratory performs over 900,000 tests at its main lab and three additional satellite laboratories.

The successful candidate should hold an MD/DO degree or foreign medical equivalent, qualify for an unrestricted Wisconsin medical license, and be board eligible/board-certified in pediatric pathology
