Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist

Who We Are: At Medical Institute of Integrative Wellness, we focus on individualized high quality medical care that combines conventional western medicine and Naturopathic Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced growing practice.

We Are Looking For: The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, organized, personable, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must be motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and work well with others. Candidate will have the willingness and ambition to learn new skills and take on a variety of responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greets and checks-in patients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information
  • Answers phone calls and schedule appointments
  • Prepares examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and organization
  • Prepares all patient labs and records for Doctor’s scheduled appointments daily.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by retrieving patient records and filing in EMR.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recoding, and updating personal financial information.
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recoding and collecting patient charges.
  • Maintains business inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Handles administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Calls in prescription refills to conventional and compounding pharmacies
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Customer Service Oriented, Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Scheduling, Word Processing, Professionalism, Quality Focus
  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or medical assistant preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in using electronic medical record systems
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
