The Pre-K Vision Program Coordinator leads, develops, grows, and manages the daily operations of the Pre-K Vision Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of the Pre-K Vision Program, which includes identifying places that would benefit from Pre-K vision screenings, working with community partners to schedule and facilitate the screening, carrying out vision screenings on Pre-K children, communicating results with parents/caregivers, maintaining records and organizing data, and coordinating follow-up care with a community eye care provider.
Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of a mobile vision clinic to enhance Pre-K Vision program impact and efficiency.
Once mobile vision clinic is active, the PreK Program Coordinator will be responsible for driving the Vision Mobile when there is a scheduled clinic. The Program Coordinator will assist the community-partner doctor with pretesting patients, assisting with frame selection, and ordering eyeglasses.
As this position requires driving a company car, van, or mobile vision clinic in and around Central Virginia. A current and valid drivers license is required.
Establish and manage relationships with school, medical, and community partners in Richmond and surrounding counties
Positively represent MEDRVA and the Pre-K Vision Program
Determine the school-based and community sites for screenings to occur and update list and schedule as needed
Coordinate and maintain daily schedules with screening centers, i.e. preschools, daycares, community events, and elementary schools
Be a liaison between MEDRVA staff, school and community personnel, and parents of children screened in the program
Prepare for daily screening activities, coordinate screening set-up and closing following the screenings
Provide vision screenings
Be proficient in all screening techniques and equipment
Maintain program data and prepare program reports and materials as requested
Monitor the performance and success of the program to make improvements or to take corrective action
Adhere to all policies and procedures of MEDRVA, enforce and maintain confidentiality of records, maintain HIPAA compliance, and adhere to other governing agencies for this program and MEDRVA
Determine when maintenance is needed on the screening equipment and make arrangements for the screening equipment to be repaired in a timely manner
Communicate program outcomes and success stories with internal and external stakeholders
Assist the Director of Development and Fundraising in researching and applying for grants that are applicable to the Pre-K Vision Program
Requirements
Proficient in use of technology
Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented and meticulous
Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve, multi-task and work under pressure and at a fast pace
Team player who can work in a collaborative environment with a strong sense of purpose and with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience that suits the position
Prior experience working well with adults and children in healthcare, community and/or customer service settings is preferred
