A Day in the Life
• Lead a team of Engineers working on the Surgical Robotics .
• The Engineering Manager would be accountable to sustain and enhance the Engineering function (Development & Verification) for the engagements . This individual would be accountable to ensure superior performance and delivery.
• Lead in areas of product development including understanding the customer needs, designing and executing Voice of Customer, converting needs to requirement to engineering specification.
• Defining the vision for Surgical robotics engineering team, managing the teams work load, anticipating client needs, Acting as primary liaison & evaluating product progress at each iteration & accurate reporting of the work.
• Participate in business strategy development and execution.
• Responsible for project planning including identifying requirements, developing work plans, managing project budgets, building project schedules, and partnering with team members to determine and communicate functional and/or resource requirements.
• Own and Manage execution against an aggressive but achievable project plan, provide project-related work direction to team members, work with peer project managers/cross functional program team members to monitor dependencies and ensure that critical program milestones and deliverables are met.
• Communicate project status and issues to the Program Core Team as appropriate. Proactively manage project quality, risks, and issues.
• Provide input for setting team member’s performance objectives and provide feedback to direct reports about performance against project deliverables and core competencies. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members as appropriate
Must Haves
Experience of minimum of 15 years in product development with at least a min of 5 years in medical device development & verification capacity.
• Experience in distributed product development, team building skills, talent management, conflict resolution, budget management and global stakeholder management are critical to the role.
• Manage a cross functional engineering technical team size of 20 or more.
• Provide a blend of people management and technical savviness. Should have worked in matrix reporting structures with accountability on successful delivery of solutions.
• Deep understanding in product development processes & regulations (ex: ISO 13485, ISO 14971) Design controls for medical device development in order to coach and guide the technical leads is expected.
• Identify the needs and prepare capabilities in the cross functional areas, SW development and verification and validation areas to foster full turnkey solution to the business.
• Provide a deep understanding of the embedded and application SW development processes (Agile, waterfall methodology) and help establish SW metrics & recommended the processes for the team.
• Research and maintain solution architecture, technical design, tools and technology stack and related system and drive proof of concept efforts in MEIC.
• Must be able to support the global team in organic, blended, inorganic product development projects.
• Good hands on experience in systems engineering, software development C/C and real time systems.
• Knowledgeable in design controls for medical devices (related to CFR 820.30) 510K, IEC 62304 & other relevant standards.
• Strong proven capability & track record in developing product applications and strong knowledge in device communication & diagnostics, database systems and latest communication protocols.
• Hands-on application development (right from requirement analysis to deployment) and management of sizeable teams in Hardware and Software application development & verification activities.

• A Master’s degree in Engineering is desirable.
• Certified Project Management Professional (PMI Certification)
PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
• The incumbent would work with the project management office to ensure that resource forecasts, project metrics are correctly captured and presented to the leadership
• Frequent interaction with team members from other disciplines, cross functional teams, to understand project requirements and to adhere to project schedules.
• Possible interaction with clinicians, third-party vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
