Overview

The Strategic Planning Analyst develops and manages department planning, performance and reporting tools using project-derived data, Excel, and business intelligence tools. The Analyst manages multiple planning portfolio databases to drive business initiatives.   The Analyst identifies and evaluates opportunities to create lean project programs and definitions to improve use of capital.  Using historical and forecasting data, this position identifies trends, builds business cases and makes business recommendations in support of strategic objectives and customer requests. This position also aligns department analyst work with Medxcel and customer financial practices and policy.

 

This position is located at Central Office-Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities

Informatics (40%)

  • Project specific planning
    • Identify best-quality sources for operational data. Define, acquire, collate and reconcile the dataset.
    • After assessing the specifics of the project, define, request and coordinate strategic volume forecasts. Compare to other similar projects' data to evaluate the validity of the proposed dataset.
    • Tailor accepted analytical methods to the specific circumstances of the project.
    • For both Master Facility Plans and Clinical Service Line studies, produce phase by phase analytical product for use in customer's planning efforts.
  • Development of planning criteria
    • Undertake periodic reviews of recently completed projects to identify new trends and compile updated benchmark information for review and consideration of incorporation into future work.
    • Organize/automate space program templates
    • Identify opportunities to automate intake processes and to integrate Strategic Planning information with other Medxcel functions.

Space and Functional Programming, Building Prototypes (20%)

  • To guide the design of subsequent capital projects and align them with stated business goals, at the conclusion of planning efforts, assist the Planning Managers with production of templated Project Definition Statements.
  • At the direction of the Planning Manager, prepare space programs for use by design teams.
  • Compile functional programs for common service types along with common scope and operational information such as staffing plans, process descriptions. Present findings to the Strategic Planning group for selection of prototypes.
  • Compile template/prototype descriptions of designated building types
    • Project Definition statements including business volumes and KPUs
    • Corresponding space and functional programs
    • Example graphics of functional plans.

Planning Activity Support (20%)

  • Organize and maintain the Master Facility Plan and Clinical Service Line Study libraries.
  • Facility Capital Plan (FCP) support
    • Update data from eBuilder into FCP analytics
    • Compile comprehensive data for review by the Director
    • Create decision documents for leadership and customer action
    • Distribute process step and decision notifications to implementation team
  • Activity coordination
    • Track and inform of dates for design reviews
    • Compile and transmit Planning Manager review notes
    • Assist with formatting and editing of studies and reports
    • Assist with formatting of standards documents

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience and/or 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree required 

 

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience with bachelor’s degree, and/or 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree required                         
  • 4 years in a healthcare focused organization preferred 
  • Experience in a remote or hybrid environment preferred

  • Analytics – familiar with the methodologies of generating data from observation of the built environment; familiar with the methods of reporting business operations results.

  • Ability to Adapt — deals with changes in scope and direction with agility and flexibility. Able to cope with ambiguity.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and Associates across the organization
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), virtual meeting applications and Smartsheet.

 

Travel Required: Up to 10% based on organization and department priorities
