What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title Closer position at Members Title Agency?
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the buyer/borrower, seller, realtor, and lending institution to facilitate seamless and efficient real estate closings. Establishes and maintains friendly, professional rapports with all parties to the closing transaction.
- Resolves any issues discovered in the title search, payoffs of outstanding mortgages, judgments, etc. Completes all other processing of the file.
- Schedules appointments for closing transactions with buyer/borrower, seller, realtor, and lending institution.
- Prepares CDs or HUD Settlement Statements and all other closing documents for the transaction. Obtains approval from lender for the CD or HUD Settlement Statement. Orders update of title search from the underwriter.
- Forwards file to appropriate lending institution with instructions for closing. May conduct closings of real estate transactions at Members Title Agency office or at the office of the lending institution, as needed.
- Audits closing documents and prepares documents for filing with appropriate agencies.
- Assists other Members Title Agency staff as needed to ensure closing transactions are completed on schedule.
- May assist in the training of new Members Title Agency employees.
- Attends job-specific training classes and/or seminars as requested by manager. This includes, but is not limited to, completing annual BSA/AML Compliance Training and understanding employee’s role in maintaining an effective BSA/AML compliance program.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-6 years progressively responsible experience in title insurance processing, closing, and disbursement with a title insurance company.
- Must be a Notary Public in the State of Florida, or become a Notary Public within a reasonable period of time.
- State of Florida Title Insurance Agent license required.
- Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Members Title Agency and title insurance industry policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.
- Good knowledge and understanding of all Members Title Agency computer systems and software programs required to perform job duties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with all parties involved in the closing transaction.
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
