Overview
PC Technician Wanted!! Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for a dynamic IT professional to join our team! As thePC Technician, you will be part of an excellent Information Technology Department which strives to provide outstanding technical support for a wide range of activities.
The key areas of focus for this position are to install, modify, and make minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems. You will provide technical assistance and training to system users using excellent verbal and written communication skills.
In aggregate, the Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.
Responsibilities

- Install, modify, and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment such as printers or scanners.
- Monitor the I.T. support system and respond to inquiries and requests for assistance with computer systems or assign tasks to appropriate I.T. resources.
- Identifies problems, troubleshoots, and provides advice to assist users and coordinates with other IT areas to resolve problems if necessary.
- Set up equipment for employee use and ensure proper installation of cable, operating systems, and software.
- Install and maintain end-user computer systems.
- Support end-user hardware and software systems.
- Troubleshoot and eliminate network, common Microsoft Windows, application, and connectivity problems.
- Maintain I.T. documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
- High school diploma or GED Required.
- Four to five years working experience in personal computer technical support and repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic Algebra and Geometry.
- Must maintain and carry a valid driver’s license and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle including automobiles and truck in accordance with company policy guidelines.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, for up to 25 feet.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, crouch, crawl and/or kneel while removing and installing computer equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee regularly works in an office setting.
- The noise level is typically quiet; may occasionally work in mill environment or outside facility where noise level is usually moderate.
- Position travels locally, usually by car, up to 25% of the time.
