GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision of the Sergeant on duty the purpose of the position is the overall patrol duties within the Menominee Indian Reservation.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Patrol assigned area to control traffic, prevent crime and arrest violators as appropriate.
Familiarize themselves with the assigned areas and be aware of individuals living in those areas.
Dispense unruly crowds at public gatherings within Departmental guidelines.
Render first aide at the scene of accidents, medical assistance calls, domestic violence calls or anywhere else within the jurisdiction as needed.
Direct and control traffic around fires accidents and other disruptions as needed.
Warn or arrest person violating the law.
Issue warnings or citations for violations of civil ordinances
Report the facts of incidents, to include; Who, What, Where, When, Why and How the incident took place.
Write and file daily activity reports as required.
Assist Detectives in carrying out their functions.
Act as Tribal Police Liaison to the community to enhance good public relations.
Appear before the courts in regards to cases being adjudicated.
Assume responsibility for proper maintenance of personal equipment and vehicles.
Adhere to safety practices as it relates to weapons, vehicles and personal conduct.
Familiarize themselves with all the rules, regulations, and codes of the position to ensure efficient operation.
Maintain knowledge in the area of drugs/narcotics, i.e., abuse, identification and availability as it relates to patrol duties.
Must be available to respond to emergency and/or unusual occurrences while on or off duty.
Maintain confidentiality as required by law and departmental standards.
Must be of upstanding moral character with demonstrable positive interactions in both public and private relationships.
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
Must be a certified law enforcement officer in accordance with BIA guidelines; basic training must have been completed within three years from date of hire or applicant must have been employed as a full time law enforcement officer within the last three years.
Candidates must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer, and meet / provide the following:
1. A written job application providing educational and experience qualifications.
2. A background investigation which includes verification of qualifying credentials:
a) Citizen of the United States
b) High school diploma or its equivalent
c) Verification of at least 3 personal references
d) Review of criminal record
e) At least 21 years of age at the hire
f) Valid driver’s license with 5 years of uninterrupted driving experience; the last three being clear of any serious violations.
g) No felony convictions
h) No misdemeanors convictions within the last 12 months
i) No domestic violence related to misdemeanor convictions
3. A written examination indicating suitability for law enforcement work
4. A psychological evaluation indicating suitability for law enforcement work.
5. An oral interview
6. A medical examination indicating suitability for law enforcement work
7. A Physical Efficiency Battery test prior to and periodically during, employment to demonstrate an acceptable level of physical fitness for law enforcement work.
Applicant must pass firearms qualifications prior to, and bi-annually during employment.
Applicant must sign a Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics and adhere to those standards
Employees must receive 40-hours of annual in-service training
If applicant has previously worked for the Tribe, the applicant must have a positive past work record.
Applicant must not have been terminated for cause from any position within the past year.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates shall be subject to a Caregiver background check.
Candidates selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent on the results of said test.

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
