What are the responsibilities and job description for the Area Accounting Manager position at Menzies?
- Coordinate and support information flow between locations, finance staff and corporate office teams. Provide audit support to locations, including internal, external and company audits.
- Supervision of Accounting Associates (located at station) and Area Accounting Associates, conduct regular appraisals, feedback and training to accountants, and recruiting and training new accountants.
- Review and reconcile SUN accounts, and transactional systems as required to confirm completeness and accuracy of Monthly reporting.
- Ensure customers are billed according to contract, fuel release, sales tax and concession fee terms. Verify contract setup in RSMS.
- Supervise daily finance activities ensuring compliance with any local deadlines (soft close daily).
- Coordinate Month end close (hard close).
- Review RSMS reports and revenue accounts.
- Work with stations and billers to ensure that billing deadlines are met.
- Complete and process journal entries as needed.
- Complete and submit CCMF forms for all fuel and GH adhoc activity (or new customers in accordance with Commercial).
- Review and research P&L accounts as needed.
- Review, reconcile and verify revenue/billing. Research & resolve billing disputes (Accounts Receivable).
- Complete and submit, Credit/Rebills (investigating issue, resolving issue, etc.)
- Reconcile RSMS fuel receipts to vendor fuel invoices.
- Prepare Financial reports in support of Station Management.
- Project work as assigned (example: working on fuel reconciliation project for all stations).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Computer literate with proficiency in Excel
- Solid understanding of general accounting concepts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present at all levels
- Interpersonal skills: Independence, decisiveness and the ability to work accurately and independent of immediate support
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment background and a drug screen
- Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- Must excel in time management skills and require minimal supervision
