Plans, directs and supervises the daily operation and administration of the Police, Security and Emergency Management functions for Mercy Health’s Springfield Regional Medical Center, Urbana Hospital, and all associated facilities. Oversees access control, CCTV surveillance and Identification oriented technology. Responsible for providing support to market emergency preparedness efforts, this includes, but is not limited to: developing plans & procedures, presenting training & exercises, writing reports, and coordinating efforts throughout the market. Represents Mercy Springfield market in dealings with local, regional, state and federal law enforcement and emergency preparedness entities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Directly supervises all communications, investigation, law enforcement, security and emergency management personnel
- Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the department at all regional facilities
- Acts as consultant to facilities and individual departments in all areas related to security, police and emergency management issues.
- Liaison with law enforcement agencies at all levels to coordinate services, training, and enforcement
- Conducts proactive risk assessments for each facility to evaluate potential adverse impact of environment
- Reviews reports, watches for trends and maintains accurate records of activities by completing reports. Ensure all unusual incidents and criminal activity are documented and reported appropriately
- Responds to emergent situations and protects staff and all other people from injury due to conflict, confrontation or disasters
- High School Diploma or GED
- The Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program or equivalent and subsequent educational requirements. Current Certified Healthcare Safety and Emergency Professional certifications. Completion of NIMS courses IS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800
- 10 years of progressive responsibility in Law Enforcement and Emergency Management field, demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in Security, Law Enforcement and/or related field
- Satisfactorily complete all in-service and annual qualifications required by the State of Ohio
- 4 year/Bachelors Degree
- Demonstrate analytical abilities necessary to formulate long range plans, prepare budgets, conduct research and evaluate data -Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships, work with administrators, senior executives, directors, managers, and employees to develop strategic programs -Must have the ability to work independently to set priorities and meet deadlines. Must be able to make rapid and pertinent decisions to protect employees, patients and visitors
