SUMMARY
The Lab Technician Electro-Magnet Compatibility EMC Wireless role is an entry-level position with opportunities are available across all shifts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set-up laboratory equipment and conduct EMC and electrical testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and International EMC standards.
Validate project scope and sample operation.
Tests are conducted on-site at our offices/laboratory locations.
Read and determine applicable standards and clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
Read and understand schematics and manufacturing and testing instructions.
Follow established test plan(s) in accordance with standards. Additional examples of the types of tests to be performed include, but are not limited to, the following:
Radiated Emissions
Conducted Emissions
Radiated Immunity
Conducted Immunity
ESD Immunity
EFT Immunity
Surge Immunity
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, cleaning and minor repairs to Instrumentation/equipment. Store and properly dispose of materials as needed.
Interact effectively and professionally with clients/customers
Ensure safety procedures are followed, knowledge of proper laboratory techniques and protocols.
Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canada and other product safety standards (i.e., ANSI, CSA,ETSI, EN, IEC is a plus).
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities
AS/BS/BET in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Technology -or- equivalent Education/Military experience plus a minimum of 1-year directly related EMC/electronics/TIC industry testing experience.
Board level troubleshooting skills are a plus, basic soldering skills.
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of test equipment.
Ability to accurately define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments within established parameters.
Able to work well independently or as part of team.
Affinity for a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated customer service skills/excellent service ethic.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and active listening), self-motivated.
Refined organization and time management skills.
Microsoft Office experience
Education:
Associate Degree in Engineering Science or 2 years of equivalent work experience required.
Experience:
Experienced in power distribution
Experience with EMC automation software’s like EMC32, TILE, Nexio or similar.
Experienced in global EMC Codes, Standards and Regulations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Will work in a laboratory environment.
Work may be sedentary, sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer.
Physical effort may require lifting up to over 50 pounds.
