Overview:
Provides assistance to physicians, patients, family members, staff of Mercy and the general public through the correct, expedient, and courteous transferring of calls, overhead paging, or beeper communications. Provides patient location information within HIPPA guidelines, as well as answers specific hospital inquiries and locating resources for additional information. Assist in the performance of locating medical teams for emergency procedures, according to department protocols and other services requested. Receives calls and dispatches Security officers for routine and emergency calls. Uses two way radio to reach Security, Facilities Management and Housekeeping departments. Contacts on call personnel at the request of Nurse or Department Manager. Monitors hospital alarms and reports any activity to proper authorities per departmental protocols. The Customer Reps must be able to sit at the computer for long periods of time. Reports to the Communications Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2 years of customer service experience preferred
- Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Other: Able to type 40 words per minute and effectively navigate several computer software systems
