Overview:
Responsible for implementing, in coordination with Nursing Leadership and Talent Development Optimization (TDO), programs aimed at improving competencies and increasing awareness of nursing trends. In conjunction with Nurse Managers, TDO, Physician leaders, and administration, develops and monitors QI programs for the Nursing Divisions, and all other Ancillary Departments. Coordinates clinical education at the unit and overall division level. Serves as a clinical conultant and a role model by planning and coordinating patient care in area of specialty practice. Acts as a consultant to the bedside nurse regarding specialty patient situations, directing the nurse in the appropriate direction and providing the necessary education. Including but not limited to IV therapy, wound therapy and care of the complex patient. As a resource person for the Hospital, consults with physicians, consumers, community and other health care disciplines. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:
- Education: BSN required.
- Licensure: Must have a current RN temporary permit/ RN license in the State of Missouri
- Experience: Requires three to five years of experience in inpatient nursing.
- Certifications: None
- Other: The person must be able to function well with a high degree of independence and initiative and possess an in depth knowledge of clinical nursing. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Because of the changing needs of the department/institution, the appropriate percent of time devoted to the duties of the clinician, educator, researcher and consultant as outlined in duties and responsibilities may be contracted differently for certain periods of time.
- Preferred Education: MSN preferred.
- Preferred Experience: Prefer minimum of 1 year experience in prior nursing leadership or education.
- Preferred Certifications: Prefer specialty certification in nursing.
