What are the responsibilities and job description for the RADIOLOGY AIDE 3 position at Mercyhealth?
Under the supervision of a registered radiologic technologist, assists in the performance of imaging exams, transports patients, and performs clerical duties as assigned. May be required to alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, and take call. May be asked to flex hours and overtime as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned sites(s).
Responsibilities:- Assists in the performance of imaging procedures.
- Performs patient reception, PACS and transport duties.
- Corroborates patient’s clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available to the technologist and radiologist.
- Assists in preparing and positioning the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
- Assists in the selects and operation of imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
- Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
- Immobilizes patient as required for examination.
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patient during procedures.
- Initiates basic life support when necessary.
- Assists in determining radiographic technique and exposure factors.
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
- Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
- Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.
- Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
- Utilities appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers.
Six months experience as a radiography student required
