The Meredith College Library seeks an energetic, tech-savvy, service-oriented person to support the Technical Services Department’s initiatives which include maintenance of the library’s digital branch and participation in the management of the library’s services platform, Worldshare Management Services (WMS).
- The Technical Services Librarian will support Technical Services operations, which include collection development, cataloging and metadata, archives, serials, WMS, and the digital branch.
- In collaboration with the library’s web team, the Technical Services Librarian will design, develop, and update the library’s digital branch.
- This position will work with other library staff to ensure effective management of the library services platform and provide support and vision related to the ongoing development of library systems and discovery services.
- The Technical Services Librarian will participate in reference and information services, including regular desk hours (some evenings and weekends) and information literacy instruction.
- A master's degree from an ALA-accredited library science program
- Experience with website design and management utilizing the principles of responsive, adaptive and accessible web design
- Working knowledge of integrated library systems
- Current knowledge of cataloging standards and metadata schemas
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial and diverse environment
- Experience using Springshare Apps (LibGuides, LibGuides CMS)
- Experience using a shared bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC
- Experience with print and electronic serials management
- Demonstrated teaching and presentation skills
- Proficiency with DDC and LCSH
