Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system. Duties include assisting the plant and VP of CNG with ensuring employees follow all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the storage, delivery, and usage of CNG. The Plant Manager is instrumental in ensuring the plant operates within the guidelines of the budget and provides other services as requested by management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Personnel Management:
- Assists with recruiting, hiring, and training employees based on criteria agreed upon by senior management
- Duties will include managing tasks, staff meetings, development programs and operational reports as needed
- Develops and manages the plant field staff
- Coordinates with administration the compliance of office staff with established company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record-keeping procedures
- Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
Plant Performance/Customer Service:
- Schedules and dispatches all CNG drivers and service technicians
- Manages compression station operations and personnel
- Provides feedback to senior management regarding plant performance
- Maintains adequate systems knowledge and provides support to VP of CNG
- Assists with inventory management
- Assists with meeting budget revenue guidelines
- Evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly plant reporting as required by plant and/or VP of CNG
- Ensures that daily, weekly, monthly functions to be performed at each plant are performed as required
- Assists staff in collection efforts and must closely monitor top accounts
- Responsible for the coordination of fleet maintenance, safety records, DOT files/records with Pico Propane fleet management and compliance
- Coordinates safety initiatives with the director of safety and implements as instructed
- Resolves customer concerns by determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.

Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledgeable of CNG operations and equipment
- Ability to respond on a 24/7 basis to emergency situations
- Proven leadership with the ability to motivate and coach a team
- Ability to attain necessary certifications to ensure plant success
- Ability to speak clearly, professionally, and eloquently, with the ability to be responsive
- Ability to use active listening skills, while giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to handle multiple demands at one time
- Proficient in the current Microsoft Office Suite
Education, Certification, Licenses Required:
- An associate’s degree or high school diploma/GED with at least two (2) years of management experience and experience in general trades such as plumbing, mechanics, etc.; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Physical, Mental, Behavioral Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch
- Regularly and safely lifts, carries, and handles supplies and equipment weighing at least 20 - 50 pounds
- Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
- Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
- Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, gases and airborne particles is common
